Using Shoe Inserts For Better Foot Support

People who experience pain in their back and feet may not realize that the pain is most likely the result of shoes that have not been properly fitted for their feet. The key to ending this type of pain is to use shoe inserts in each pair of shoes. This provides comfort and foot support, which in turn leads to less back and foot pain or even a complete elimination of pain.

Before deciding on which type of foot support to purchase, the person who is experiencing foot and back pain needs to determine the specific pain caused by each type of shoe. For example, if a pair of tennis shoes cause pain in the heels every time they are worn, a heel wedge could help to alleviate the pain.

A heel wedge is a small piece of plastic that is formed to fit in just the heel area of a shoe. It works by raising a person's heel just enough to take pressure off the top of the feet and the ankles. Using heel wedges can help to prevent plantar fasciitis and lends greater support to the tendons in the foot.

If a pair of high heeled pumps that are worn for work cause the middle of the foot to become painful, the likely culprit is lack of arch support. By purchasing an arch support insert for only that pair of shoes, pain will hopefully become a thing of the past.

Arch pain is the most common type of foot pain that people experience. Rather than purchasing expensive specialty shoes, people who experience arch pain can buy an insert to deal with the pain symptoms. By providing the feet with arch support, the person should notice an immediate improvement because they help to relieve pressure on the back, knees, ankles and heels. In most cases, using an arch support will not change the way the person normally walks and are safe to use.

There are also inserts that are available to provide comfort and protection to the entire foot, including the heel, arch and toes.
