| PART 1 Personal Safety is a growing concern that is on everyone’s mind... unfortunately. Over the last several years the occurrences of personal assaults has been steadily increasing and the need to defend oneself is more important than ever. So how do you defend yourself? Defending oneself is not really just one thing; it is a plan, a thought out plan accompanied by an acquired skill set. Pepper Spray can, and possibly should be a part of your Self-Defense Plan because it does not require years of training to implement effectively. Pepper Spray comes in many shapes and forms... very confusing. The simplification begins now. There are 3 basic chemical compounds used in pepper sprays and there is only one you want... OC (Oleoresin Capsicum). The other two, CS (Orthochloroacetaphenone), and CN (Alphachloroacetaphenone) are not reliable and should not be used, Self defense products, and specifically Pepper Spray, are not all equal. CS and CN are synthetic chemical compounds that have been proven ineffective in many situations. The problem is that they are irritants to membrane tissues and in the case of assailants that are impaired they may have no stopping affect at all. OC on the other hand is an inflammatory agent made from various hot peppers that causes two things to happen. When a person is sprayed with OC, the eyes clamp shut and they start coughing because the spray inflames the lung tissue. This effect happens whether the person is impaired or not and thereby makes OC Pepper Spray the only choice when choosing a self-defense spray. If you have never shopped for pepper spray, you will find a lot of choices. They come in ½ oz., 2 oz., 4 oz., and larger. Some come in sizes that deliver 5 shots; some are large enough to deal with a mob. Either way, the model that is right for you is dependent on your own Personal Safety concerns and the situations you must deal with in your day to day activities. Next time we will discuss the many options available in OC Pepper Spray and how to choose a model that is right for you. www.personalsafetycentral.com |
